Pembroke & Nash have had a phenomenally busy first quarter of 2019. Our workshop is running at capacity, as are our on site carpenters. This increase in demand has resulted in Pembroke & Nash buying new vans and taking on more specialists, this is to enable us to keep up with the high demand. Our bespoke services and expertise in Listed Buildings have contributed to this. We now have a back log of enquiries from Architects and Builders, awaiting our input on planning and section details for heritage joinery. We have also installed over 100 windows and doors since January, in properties across Sussex, a lot of double glazed upgrades, mainly in listed buildings. We are the market leaders in Listed Building joinery and restoration. We are the company that the professionals such as Architects, Builders and Heritage specialist are all now coming to. Read on to see what we have been doing over the last three months. Only a snippet of the vast amount of jobs that we are involved in.
Brighton College Phase 2. After a very successful Phase 1 (Summer 2018) and some very happy clients at Brighton College we are now on to phase two of this upgrade. The works will commence in a June 2019, so preparations are already under way for the dual colour Accoya Sash windows. These take eight weeks to make, from start to finish and there are lots of them!
An interesting job that is near completion is a new build property consisting of several flats. The property is in Kemptown Brighton and has been built to replicate Listed Buildings on either side. Previously this was just an old yard entrance. The works consisted of dozens of new windows and doors, fitted to the front and rear of the property with Slimite double glazed Units. A combination of Hardwoods for Doors and Accoya for the windows was used. Venetian Triple Sash Windows / French Doors / Doric Door Surrounds / Georgian Front Door / Curved Basement Door to fit the line of the arch under the front steps. A Fantastic build by the main contractors Packham Construction.
An interesting job that we are currently making (April 2019) is an Edwardian Curved Library. This was a stunning edition to this Hove mansion when it was built and still is. Unfortunately an unnamed timber window / sash restoration company was asked to cut out and repair some wet rot only a couple of years ago. They actually made the rot worst by using poor quality, high moisture content timber and even worst workmanship?! The result is that the rot spread. Whilst discussing the options with the client we mentioned that we have rebuilt curved windows on previous occasions and installed double glazed Bowed Glass. We don’t know of any other company that has been able to achieve this. The heat loss in the winter has swayed the clients in to replacing the whole structure (Half of it was rotten beyond repair) and we are now well under way manufacturing this at our workshops in Lewes. A very complex and tricky job. We cannot wait to see the finished result. The door, transom and frames are all being remade. The leafs will be opening this time round. Award winning joinery in the making.
