Sash window repair & restoration Service in Sussex.
The picture below shows new sashes that were installed into existing sash box frames. These sash windows were repaired and new hardwood sills fitted, before the replacement sash windows were installed. The sash boxes were sanded and primed. The external parts of the box frames were left, as the client was decorating these parts of the windows themselves. These are only some of the windows that have been installed in Sussex in 2014. If the sash windows are not beyond economical repair, then they can be restored. We have examples of our work throughout the Sussex area, including Worthing, Eastbourne, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne, Arundel, Horley, Horsham, Burgess Hill, Ditchling & Lewes. We can carry out repairs to all wooden windows, with or without new sashes or leafs.
Sash Window double glazing Service in Sussex.
The Double glazing of traditional wooden sash windows is now very common. With either fitting complete box sash windows or just upgrading the sashes, the difference in thermal performance is huge. Single glazing has no heat retentative properties and controlling the temperature in a room warm can be difficult, especially with larger sash windows. By using Planitherm glass, with either Argon or Krypton gas installed within the new sashes, the performance of the sash window will be greatly improved. A very wise investment, especially with rising fuel costs.
The sash windows pictured below were fitted in Sussex and were copied from the originals, including the section details, such as the bottom, top and meeting rails. Th thickness of the double glazed unit is governed by the existing window size. Complete new sash windows with new box frames will be document L compliant and generally have a U value of 1.5 or less. New sash windows can be made form Redwoods, Hardwoods or Accoya.
Sash Window Draught proofing in Sussex.
The sash windows pictured below are in a Sussex property (Fiveways, Brighton). They are actual replacement sashes. However as part of the service we draught proofed the sash windows. Draught proofing sash windows is very common, but we are amazed how many home owners are still not ware of the benefits of draught proofing your property. We can offer draught proofing as a stand alone service or in conjunction with sash window repairs, or fitting double glazed sash windows. As you can see by the windows below, draught proofing sash windows does not alter the appearance or detract from that original look. We can draught proof sash windows in Grade I & Grade II listed properties, such as those in Sussex villages such as Arundel, Ditchling & Lewes.
